Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has called on members of the Nupe community residing in Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State to support and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, in the August 15 governorship election.
Fadahunsi made the appeal during an engagement with members of the Nupe community, also known as Tapa, in Ilesa East. He was represented at the event by his Head of Media and Public Enlightenment, Omole Olusegun Omo-Osodi.
The senator commended the Nupe community for its peaceful coexistence and continued support over the years, assuring them of his commitment to their welfare.
He said, “I sincerely appreciate your unwavering support always and your peaceful coexistence with us over the years. Just as you know, I am always with you and I remain part of you.
“I am here again today, just the same way I have always been with you, to remind you about the Saturday election. I urge you all to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, for quality education for our children, quality healthcare for us all and unbiased employment.”
Speaking on behalf of the senator, Omole expressed appreciation to the Nupe community for its support and peaceful disposition, promising that the APC would promote equity and justice if elected.
He assured the community that their concerns would continue to receive attention, urging them to participate actively in the electoral process.
In his response, the leader of the Nupe community, Ndah Isah, commended Senator Fadahunsi for what he described as his consistent support for the community.
Isah also praised Omole for his accessibility and commitment to addressing the concerns of community members.
He said the community would reciprocate the senator’s support by voting for the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.
“We thank Baba Senator Fadahunsi for always remembering us and for his kindness to our children. We also thank his boy, Hon. Omole, for always standing by us. You are such a nice person to us. Any time we call you, you are always there to rescue us from intimidation,” Isah said.
He added that Omole had repeatedly delivered the senator’s messages to the community and remained accessible whenever they needed assistance.
“Your door is always open for us and, Insha Allah, come Saturday, our vote will be a payback,” he stated.
The Nupe leader, however, appealed to Senator Fadahunsi to assist the community in securing a polling unit within their area, saying the community has a significant population in Ilesa East.
According to him, the community has more than 18,000 people based on the voters’ register and deserves a polling unit of its own to ease participation in the electoral process.
The engagement ended with renewed calls for political participation and support for the APC candidate ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
