Chairman Senate committee on Water resources, Senator Abdulaziz Yari has reiterated that it is government responsibility to provide clean and portable water to Nigerians.
According to Senator Yari, Senate will work closely with the executive and other relivant agencies to achieve this.
“We are going to invite the ministry and agencies and work hand in hand with our counterpart in the House of Reps.
Yari, disclosed this in Abuja, Wednesday, at the Committee interactive meeting.
The former Zamfara state governor, representing Zamfara West, Senatorial district, laud members of the committee, and also noted that the upper legislative chamber has chosen the right people to work in the committee.
The lawmaker explained that the Wednesday meeting was an interactive session, saying inaugural meeting of the committee will be held soon.
He said “the committee on water resources has 16 MDAs spread across the 6 geopolitical zones.
“We are fortunate by the spread of MDAs, we need to look at our dams to see how best we can bring them to standard and improve them.
“This committee has a lot of work to do and I hope we will give our time for the development of our people” Yari told the committee members.
