Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Ireti Kingibe has task the Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike always provide alternatives before to demolishing houses.
The lawmaker, stated this in an interview with journalists on Thursday in Abuja.
According to her, demolitions are allowed but with a court order;
“Yes demolitions are allowed but you need to come with a court order. you cannot just come and nutdown people houses, you need to prepare the people brfore demolishing people houses.
She noted that leadership is supposed to have empathy, those are some of the things that when different people work together, will pickup each others lapses
” I am a woman, I have a lot of empathy, I have better suggestions that will better the lives of Abuja residents.
Minister Wike must understand that once you have been elected, declared by INEC, and the Court has affirmed you, it doesn’t matter who voted for you or not, you become elected for everybody.
Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the President regardless of who voted for him and who didn’t. The same way I am the Senator of the Federal Capital Territory, regardless of who likes or who doesn’t like it and that is the way its going to be till 2027, our status will not change, unless we die! God forbid.
If he, Wike, is a true democrat he has to understand that opposition or not It doesn’t matter, once you are elected is done.
“Wike and I have different goals, he was appointed and I am elected, his accountable only to the President and to us while oversight him, while I am accountable to the people. That is what makes everything works.
Wike should also understand that the National Assembly is also the state Assembly for the FCT so we as all Governor acknowledge the legislatures are the representative of the people appointed. Wike have to understand that the three of us, the two members of House of Reps and myself are the representatives of the people, the once they choses to represent their interest.
” Really things are bad across the country not just in the FCT. People are insecure, no food but this are problems that we as leaders are elected to solve so we will solve them.
The lawmaker also speaks on how to end insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory, call on Mr. Wike to see reasons why they must work together to benefit residents.
“Well he could if he has a different approach, his new in the Territory, am still hoping that we will understand that working together will benefit the residents much more than each person on its own.
