A Call to Unity, Loyalty and Renewed Commitment to the Ideals of Our Great Party
Dear Esteemed Leaders, Stakeholders, and Members of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State,
I write to you at a time when our nation is standing at a critical crossroads. The people of Nigeria are in despair; hope in the APC-led federal administration is fading fast, and the yearning for a credible, compassionate, and competent alternative is rising across all regions.
It is no longer a matter of conjecture that Nigerians have experienced governance under both the PDP (1999–2015) and the APC (2015–date). The comparison between the two is now clear: PDP stands for progress in education, infrastructure, job creation, welfare, and the security of lives and property. In contrast, the APC has become synonymous with hardship, failed promises, and anti-people policies.
Let it be known and remembered that those who left PDP for APC in pursuit of personal ambition or temporary relevance have ended up politically diminished, forgotten, and in many cases, betrayed. Their stories are cautionary tales.
Recall the unfortunate journey of our former governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who aligned with APC during Engr. Rauf Aregbesola’s re-election campaign. Used and discarded, it took the return of PDP and the leadership of the Adelekes to restore his voice in Osun politics. If not for PDP’s resurgence, Baba Oyinlola might have been completely erased from the political landscape.
Also consider Hon. Adejare Bello, Peter Power, Barr. Ojo Williams, Hon. Bade Falade—loyal PDP men who were lured away and eventually sidelined. Otunba Iyiola Omisore, once a proud PDP Senator and gubernatorial flagbearer, switched loyalties and has since struggled for political relevance.
Let us not deceive ourselves: no PDP leader who joined APC has found lasting glory, only regret. From Senator Dino Melaye to Dr. Bukola Saraki, the list goes on. Even among the G5 Governors who sabotaged PDP in 2023, only one (Gov. Wike) appears to have gained temporary favour. The others, Governor Seyi Makinde, former Governor Ortom, and their likes are grappling with regrets.
This is a call to reason and to conscience.
Let no one in Osun PDP be fooled by the deceitful romance of APC. Do not be used as pawns in a game that ends in betrayal. If the likes of Governor Oyinlola could be manipulated and discarded, who then is immune?
We must stay firm, united, and committed to the ideals of the People’s Democratic Party. Now is not the time for internal wrangling or inordinate ambition. Osun people have entrusted us with their hopes and dreams. Governor Ademola Adeleke represents that hope, and we must not fail him or the people.
Let us close the doors of defection and open wide the gates of reconciliation and expansion. We must welcome returning members and fresh minds from the opposition with open arms. We must prepare and position our party to resist every form of manipulation as we move towards 2026.
History is watching. The people are watching. And posterity will judge.
Let us remember: a brave man does not watch his kingdom fall.
