Party leaders, appointed and elected members of the People Democratic Party in Iwo, Iwo federal Constituency, have denied any plan by them to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing Oluwole Oke as a politician who is living in self-delusion.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Sulaiman Akanji Bello (SEEBEE) – (Iwo PDP Leader) and Hon. Alidu Tiamiyu Adeoye – (Iwo PDP Chairman), on behalfof All PDP Leaders in Iwo LG.
According to the statement, Oke has been runing from pillar to post, looking for relevancy.
“Since he defected to the APC, Oke has been running from pillar to post, holding nocturnal meetings here and there to shop for artificial followers to join him in defecting to the APC for the purpose of creating a superimposed relevance in the divided house of the APC.
“We came across a short message on the social media where Oke claimed to have told his so-called followers across the state would soon publicly join him in his newfoundland, mentioning our constituency particularly.
“Watch out for a shock from all the Local Governments in Iwo Federal Constituency and Ife North, Ife South, Atakumosa East and West,” Oke’s message read.
“Oke had never held any public office with a statewide authority or sphere of influence. For this reason, we wonder how he could lay claim to any followership at all in our constituency. In our constituency, we have been staying resolute and resilient for years, upholding the principles of our party.
“If we could successfully weather the political onslaught of the APC in the state against us and the ordinary man on the street for 12 years until 2022 to the point where our great party is now the ruling party, no element can distract us at this point again. We are focused on consolidating our party in government and execute Governor Ademola Adeleke’s well-thought-out objectives.
Oke can continue to live in his own bubbles, but he cannot distract us or detract the people of the state from the success of our party in the last two and a half years. The PDP in Iwo Federal Constituency remains solid and undivided.
