Group under the agies of Council of Northern Youth Advocate of Nigeria (CNYAN) is deeply saddened and outraged by the recent wave of brutal killings and violent attacks that have taken place in Benue State, leading to the tragic loss of innocent lives, destruction of property, and displacement of families.
The Council in a statement on Monday, in Kaduna, signed by it’s President, Hon. Hon. Mohammed Abdulrazaq Sani, called on the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action by deploying adequate security personnel to the affected areas and ensuring justice is served swiftly.
These heinous acts are unacceptable and represent a gross violation of human dignity, peace, and national unity. As advocates for youth development, social justice, and peaceful coexistence across the Northern region of Nigeria, we condemn in the strongest possible terms these barbaric attacks that continue to plague our communities and hinder national progress.
According to Abdulrazaq, Security agencies must intensify intelligence gathering and surveillance in rural communities to prevent further escalation.
“The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other humanitarian bodies to provide urgent relief to the displaced and affected victims.
“Community leaders, traditional rulers, and youth groups to foster dialogue and maintain peace in their domains while resisting any form of retaliatory violence.
“Media organizations to report responsibly, avoiding incitement or ethnic profiling that may worsen the fragile peace.
“We emphasize that no grievance justifies the taking of innocent lives. The lives of Nigerian citizens irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or region must be protected at all coscosts.
How ever said the Council stands in solidarity with the people of Benue State during this painful period and reiterates our unwavering commitment to advocating for peace, unity, and justice across Nigeria.
