Distinguished Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi OFR, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries and representative of Osun East Senatorial District, presented his committee’s 2026 budget report to the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

Senator Fadahunsi in a statement by Head of media and Public  Enlightenment, Omole Olusegun, Omo-Osodi, said the Ijesa-born lawmaker highlighted the strategic role of industrial agencies in fueling Nigeria’s economic growth and curbing import dependence.

He defended all allocations under his oversight and outlined key recommendations.

“We meticulously reviewed personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures for relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” Fadahunsi said. “Most personnel costs fall under the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), so we sustained personnel and overhead budgets as proposed while preserving capital allocations to continue vital projects strengthening our industrial base.”

Fadahunsi emphasized the National Automotive Design and Development Agency’s pivotal role in cutting vehicle imports, boosting local manufacturing, easing foreign exchange pressure, and generating jobs.

He also stressed the need for standards and regulatory bodies to protect consumers and align local products with global standards.

Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, received the report and praised the Industries Committee’s thorough work.

He assured that the recommendations would receive careful consideration aligned with national priorities.
