The APC Campaign Council rejects in its entirety the asinine and destructive claim contained in the recent Osun state government’s statement alleging that a killer squad, allegedly dispatched by the Inspector General of Police to assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke and a selected leaders of the Accord party, is being funded by our party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in order to give him an advantage at the polls.
The council in a statement by it’s Head, Media and Publicity Committee, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, in Osogbo, today said; Of course, the kick-and-start administration has begun to see the humiliating defeat staring it in the face hence the resort to foolish and reckless tactics capable of inciting the public against the law enforcement agencies. The people of Osun should prevail on the government to substantiate this libellous and seditious claim or retract it.
AMBO has no reason to engage in any secret alliance with any institution to defeat a government that squandered over one trillion naira in revenue, purchased N14 billion worth of luxury cars for politicians, diverted N2 billion federal government grants meant for the procurement of CNG and modern buses for the people, as well as N11.9 billion ecological funds intended for victims of flood and rainstorm disasters in the state.
AMBO is focused on presenting his 7-Point Prosperity Agenda to the people of Osun, explaining how his administration would not spend N92 billion feeding the governor while allocating a paltry N7 billion to the agriculture and food security sector as the current government has done. AMBO has continued to outline plans to recruit teachers into our schools and rescue the state’s health sector from its current deplorable state, where Osun reportedly ranks the second worst state with the highest number of abandoned and non-operational health centres in the country. The feedback from the people has been reassuring, and it is increasingly clear that the good people of Osun will vote massively for the APC on August 15.
This latest ploy is merely a strategy to distract the people of Osun from demanding accountability from the governor and his associates over funds belonging to the state which have become subjects of investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
It would be recalled that a similar leprous media campaign was previously launched against the former Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for insisting on allowing the rule of law to prevail in Osun and sanitizing Osun State of criminal elements and murder suspects disturbing the peace of the state. The government has now turned its attention to the current Inspector General because, as we reliably gathered, he has chosen not to compromise professional ethics by sweeping under the carpet criminal allegations against some aides and associates of the governor, including Emir Olalekan Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alawonle and Jide Joda, among others, who are allegedly being shielded from police arrest within the Government House, Okefia.
Emir Ajagungbade is said to have jumped bail and is wanted over allegations bordering on murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and terrorism. Nurudeen Alawonle, who was arrested with arms and ammunition about two years ago, is also reportedly being sought over allegations relating to murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery. Meanwhile, Jide Joda, an appointee of Governor Adeleke and a close associate of the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Lere Oyewumi, has been declared wanted by the police in connection with the death of APC chieftain and former Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Hon. Remi Abass, who was gruesomely murdered within the premises of the Irewole Local Government on February 17, 2025.
Governor Adeleke should stop overheating the polity with reckless and baseless accusations. Rather, he should, one: explain to the people of Osun why his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye, and the state Accountant-General, Mr Rasheed Olalere Alabi, were reportedly detained for one week by the EFCC.
Two: hand over to the police his associates and aides who are evading arrest over accusations bordering on murder, kidnapping, terrorism and armed robbery.
