The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday passed the Orthopaedic Hospital Amendments Bill 2025 seeking to esterblish Federal Orthopaedic Hospital, Obokun.
The passage also took place at the plenary.
Orthopaedic hospitals are specialised medical facilities focused on the musculoskeletal system, which plays a crucial role in various functions of the human body.
The adoption followed the consideration of the report submitted by Senator Osita Ngwu (PDP-Enugu) on behalf of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ipalibo Banigo.
The approval comes one month after the bill was passed for third reading.
The bill, sponsored by Senator FrancisAdenigbaFadahunsi OFR, aims to amend the Orthopaedic Hospitals Management Board Act and establish an orthopaedic hospital in Toro, Bauchi State.
In her explanation, Senator Banigo said the bill will address orthopaedic disorders such as fractures, musculoskeletal conditions, and other related diseases that many people suffer from without adequate care.
