Ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has pledged to implement a development model centered on the equitable distribution of infrastructure and social amenities across all thirty Local Government Areas of Osun State.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, Oyebamiji—a seasoned banker and former Commissioner for Finance—expressed concern over the practice of concentrating high-density road networks and major projects in isolated areas while other towns and cities face systemic neglect.
He described the use of infrastructure as a tool for political favouritismism as “fundamentally undemocratic.”
“The dividends of democracy must be enjoyed by all, irrespective of their political or religious affiliation,”Oyebamiji declared.
“While we acknowledge the unique role of the state capital, every other community in Osun is a ‘leveler.’ No community is superior to another when it comes to the right to good roads, clean water, and modern social amenities.”
The APC flagbearer, who recently served as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), emphasized that his administration would prioritize a “total-state” approach to governance. He argued that neglecting any part of the state for political reasons stunts the collective economic growth of Osun.
Oyebamiji also used the opportunity to thank the people of Osun for their unwavering commitment to peace and their continued support for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government. He urged the electorate to remain focused on the vision of a unified and progressively developed Osun as the August 8 election approaches.
