A new era in broadcasting has begun in Ila Orangun, Osun State, following the launch of Ajagunnla Radio 101.1 FM, a privately funded radio station equipped with state-of-the-art facilities valued at over ₦350 million.
The station, an initiative of Senator Olubiyi Abdulazeez Fadeyi, popularly known as Ajagunnla Oodua ti Ile Yoruba, is a private-sector project aimed at strengthening access to information and promoting local development. Contrary to public speculation, the project is not a constituency initiative but a self-financed venture.
Ajagunnla FM, located in Ila Orangun, will operate on frequency 101.1 FM and is designed to serve as a commercial -focused platform delivering news, entertainment, and vital information to residents across Osun State and beyond.
Work is currently ongoing to finalize and test the station’s facilities, with the recent arrival of premium broadcasting equipment marking a significant step toward full operation.
The station has already commenced test transmission, broadcasting daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This marks a major milestone in the media landscape of Osun State, particularly for the Ila Orangun and Igbomina regions, where such an initiative is being introduced for the first time.
In a press statement signed by the Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity, Bashorun Adekanola Desmond, the project was described as the fulfillment of a long-held vision by Senator Fadeyi.
According to the statement, the station reflects the Senator’s commitment to ensuring access to timely, credible, and people oriented information for residents of Osun Central Senatorial District and the wider state.
Ajagunnla FM is expected to deliver several key benefits, including job creation for local residents, enhanced visibility and growth opportunities for small and medium scale enterprises, and the promotion of cultural heritage and identity.
Desmond emphasized that the station is a full commercial radio platform intended to serve the collective interests of the people, describing it as a lasting legacy for Igbomina land.
He added that the initiative would play a crucial role in fostering unity, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development across the region.
Upon full commencement of operations, Ajagunnla FM 101.1 is set to provide a wide range of quality programmes tailored to the diverse interests of its audience, positioning itself as a leading voice in community broadcasting within Osun State.
