ILE-IFE, Osun State Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries and representative for Osun East Senatorial District, has flagged off the construction of a one-kilometer access road on Pedro Street in Arubidi, Ile-Ife.
Residents hailed the project as a major boost to Ile-Ife’s economy, promising better connectivity and trade opportunities.
At the flag-off ceremony, Senator Fadahunsi, represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Ayo Awodirepo, urged locals to monitor the contractor’s work closely to ensure quality. He commended the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, for his fatherly guidance in selecting zonal projects, and praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State for their steadfast support.
The Ijesa-born lawmaker called on residents to back APC candidates Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and Engr. Kayode Adereti in the upcoming August 15 elections. “This road will connect Yekemi, Abiri, and other villages to the city centre, transforming mobility and access to vital services,” he stated.
Osun APC Chairman, Hon. Sooko Lawal Tajudeen, praised Senator Fadahunsi for prioritizing the Ife Federal Constituency. “We stand with him to drive development across Ile-Ife and Osun State,” he affirmed.
The Akogun of Ife, Oba Adewale Adedoyin, described the road as an “ancestral path” as old as Ile-Ife itself, linking the main city to areas like Owenna, Ondo Road, Yekemi, and Abiri. “Dualizing it will beautify the route, ease farm produce transport, and enable seamless transactions,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Oba Adedoyin appealed to the senator to construct the adjacent one-kilometer road to the Cathedral and install solar lights to support children’s nighttime reading.
APC’s Deputy Governorship candidate, Engr. Kayode Adereti, rallied support for the party, calling the project “just the beginning” of Osun’s developmental drive.
Preliminary site clearing has begun, with full construction expected to wrap up in six months. The initiative underscores Senator Fadahunsi’s commitment to infrastructure in Osun East.
