The Ijesa Youths in Politics (IJYP) has strongly condemned a reckless statement by Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman, Ibukun Fadipe Oloka, popularly known as IBK.
In a statement issued today in Ilesa and signed by IJYP Coordinator, Comrade Esan Agboola, and Secretary, Comrade Grace Fasugba, the group urged the “failed SUBEB chairman” to stop disparaging former Commissioner for Works, Engr. Remi Omowaiye, whose track record far surpasses his own.
The group described Osun SUBEB under Fadipe as “the worst in the state’s history,” demanding he account publicly for his three-year stewardship. “Our schools rank among Nigeria’s worst,” the statement noted.
Fadipe was further accused of being a “known thug” who continues sponsoring hoodlums in Ijesaland instead of empowering youth. IJYP denied his claim that Omowaiye once visited his office for student bursary, calling it absurd: “How could Omowaiye, who graduated from the prestigious Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in 2003, seek bursary from IBK five years later as Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government? Illiteracy is a disease—Fadipe’s half-baked education blinds him to facts.”
The statement highlighted Omowaiye’s achievements, including:
Facilitating road projects like the 13.15km Ada-Igbajo Road, Osogbo-Kelebe-Iragbiji Road, 22km Barracks Junction-Ede-Ojo-Ara-Ejigbo Road, and Olaiya Flyover in Osogbo.
Rebuilding the Atakumosa Market after its 2015 fire.
Helping establish the University of Ilesa alongside other Ijesa politicians.
Rehabilitating and remodeling about 60 Primary Healthcare Centers across Ijesaland.
Serving as a UNESCO consultant as early as 2006, while Fadipe was still a “political thug” in Ilesa.
“Hon. Remi Omowaiye’s intellect cannot stoop to the level of a thug like Ibukun Fadipe,” the group asserted, praising Omowaiye’s “top-notch philanthropic gestures” statewide.
IJYP challenged Fadipe: “Point to one achievement in education by you and your ‘fish-head principal.’ These projects are invisible only to the blind Fadipe is already sinking in his own boat.
